Town & Village of Coxsackie

Community Planning Project

As a community, the Village and Town of Coxsackie have many things to offer. From the historic riverfront to the east and the rolling foothills of the Catskill Mountains to the west, Coxsackie is blessed with abundant natural resources as well as a strong sense of community. Coxsackie enjoys an enviable quality of life. In recent years, the community has begun to be “discovered” by developers, and the face and character of the community will be subject to increasing and dramatic change.

To address the anticipated acceleration of growth on the community, in 2005 the Town and Village jointly initiated a project to evaluate Coxsackie’s current status, and to develop  a long term vision for the community’s future. The “current” Village and Town comprehensive master plan is over 40 years old, with only minor edits completed approximately 20 years ago. It is clearly time to develop a new master plan to address the future of Coxsackie.

This website has been set up the CPC to provide residents and other interested parties with access to up current information on the planning process as it proceeds.  We strongly encourage you to participate in the planning process and help determine how our community will look in the future.

Growth is inevitable and desirable, but destruction of community character is not. The question is not whether your part of the world is going to change. The question is how.                                                      Edward T. McMahon
